Everything here starts with one free Google account — the same kind you use for Gmail or YouTube. If you have one, you already have your key. If not, go to gemini.google.com and sign in (or create an account); no credit card is needed for the free tier. Once you are in, open the tools menu and pick Create images — the little banana icon. That single button is the door to the whole studio. The free plan is generous enough that most learners never need to pay a rupee.

Video is a different gate 🚪
Images are the free playground; video is the locked room. In the Gemini app, video generation needs a paid Google AI plan (Plus, Pro, or Ultra) and you must be 18 or older, per Google's make-videos help page. There is no free video inside the app. We will cover the free ways to try video later (Google Flow gives 50 daily credits). For now, just remember the simple rule: in the Gemini app, images can be free, but video is paid-only and 18+.
